huh. i usually try to go to ground when these things are on. particularly if they are happening in france, or if france is participating, or if it's a day ending with "y"... people are *insane*.

i have to admit though, on a purely sociological level they are fascinating. when the coupe du monde was in paris and france won (10 years or so ago, i forget exactly) i discovered what it must have been like at the liberation of paris at the end of the war (not even joking).
