Took the better part of two days sporadic attention because it was still running Vista. ("If it ain't broke...")
Most of it was letting Window 8 update. And update. And update.
Only issues were the expected: video and trackpad. For video it didn't recognize the chipset and was running generic drivers; installed the Win7 drivers with no fuss. The trackpad I did the usual fix: delete the driver and let it reboot. It came up with the same driver running properly.

Runs smooth as silk.
Office 2010 feels a bit faster and running multiple tabs in edge doesn't run the HD ragged.
Should be good for another ten years.
(Now to find a use for it. )

I think we'll finally see the end of native XP now.
(Of course, it'll live in VMs for another century.)
