I agree it is annoying and disrupts the flow; however, in a real book, I stick my finger between the next two pages a few paragraphs before I flip. Similarly, with the kobo, I tend to flip the page a few lines before I'm done reading. I've gotten use to doing this; sometimes it works, sometimes the page turns a fraction of a second before I'm ready.
It's not horrible for me, but it certainly would be nice if during the idle time while I'm reading the page, they could precalculate whatever they do during page flip so the actual page flip was instant.
