There is no standard place, or if there is, no one told me about it.

I put my mods in /usr/local/<Modname> and user files to /mnt/onboard/.<modname>. Should I switch to /mnt/onboard/.addons/<ModName>?

/mnt/{onboard,sd}/ is no good for long running scripts, since that is to be unmounted any time USB connects, but a script would keep the filesystem busy so it can't be ejected properly...
