I think this is it. After reading a little more, I realized that sold by Amazon Digital Services doesn't necessarily mean published by Amazon. On checking my wishlist, I saw that several of my books published by "real" publishing houses, e.g. Norton and university presses, were sold by Amazon and thus (fingers crossed) should be promo credit-applicable. Only the agency books showed as sold by Hachette, Penguin, etc.
So I'll be using no-rush shipping again.
