There was a discussion of this back on 6-5-15, at about message #543.

I think that the person who made the post prior to this one of mine was right--it's to get the specials.

But, IMHO, you shouldn't dismiss that as being trivial. Here are some of the specials that you get access to:
1. All Whispersync deals.
2. All Audible daily deals--that's 365 a year!
3. Promotions such as the Buy 4, Get $10 (credit) deal.
4. Credits ($10 usually, if not always) from companies like Avis and Hertz.

The ListenerLight membership is only $10 a year. You can easily save that much by taking advantage, just one time, one of the first two specials above. And, compare the price to that of the Gold(?) plan, which is $180 per year.

But, in the end, it depends upon your particular needs and buying patterns as to whether or not the L.L. plan is right for you.
