best wishes koboy.
Except you're not giving others that treatment. By telling others 'Ok I've decided to draw a line in the sand, stop replying' you're acting as though you were a mod or an admin. You can draw a line in the sand on any debate you like, but it's only going to apply to you. If others choose to continue the debate, or even add to it then that is their prerogative. You do not need to reply, it doesn't reflect anything on you aside from that you've said all you have to say on the subject. You'll note my initial post about this subject was not addressed to a specific user, rather it used the informal group 'you', to encompass all those who were stating that electronics must come with user replaceable batteries.

I'd also point out that if we all followed the idea of always replying when someone replied to us no debate would ever end because by replying and stating you were done you would then require everyone else to reply and say they were done which in turn would make you have to reply and so on.

Some advice you gave Peter applies, if you don't want to read any more in this topic, then don't.

No one is trying to say you are wrong. There really is no right or wrong in this sort of debate, because it's all about opinion and by their nature an opinion can't be right or wrong*.

*If and only if it's actually an opinion, stating facts as opinions does not make them opinions.
