From about 2:25 he lowers the voyage light and the color change from top to bottom is visible. It's subtle but its there. It would be a lot more noticeable if reading landscape. The kobo screen lacks the color difference at lower levels. The color appears entirely uniform. It does look brighter on one side than the other. Maybe thats an effect in the video. Apart from this the two lights are very comparable.

Another bodgy video from Goodereader, isn't it? They say the Kindle is better at the start - but that seems to be an artifact of it being brighter at 100% brightness than the Kobo, which is irrelevant as 100% brightness in a dark room is not a thing that happens in the world. At no point do they attempt to show the two devices at the same brightness - they just compare 100, 75, 50 and 0, which is a useless thing to do.
(I see what you mean about the colours - blue-green at the bottom and pinkish at the top. I think that would bother me more than the headlamping, but mileage varies.)
