First you can change the light to 0% and it will turn off.

I've been trying to find an imperfection with mine. The only thing I could maybe nitpick is at the bottom where the glolight LEDs are. It's very slightly uneven there but it's very hard to see. On my old Glo, it's easy to see some screen imperfections close to the bottom of the screen just glancing at it but on my Glo HD I have to really try hard to see any uneven lighting. The lighting on the new Glo HD is really great and even. I think I'm going to enjoy reading this at night more than with my Glo as I found the Glo at 1% was still too bright and the Glo HD can go dimmer.

Sorry I'm not the best person to ask about what's new in the firmware Everything seems the same to me so far between the Glo and Glo HD. I would assume most of the updates would be bug fixes etc. If I notice any differences I'll post them.
