As I said, I had 'heard' the name. But I've never seen The Simpsons (I do know it's a TV show,) and I never have watched those Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Emmys, sorts of presentations, even when I lived in the States. Frankly, I don't understand the attraction of seeing people I don't know winning awards. These days, when I see a Who's Who list of top actors and actresses, I don't recognize 90% of them.

In fact, we don't even have a TV in the house. We DO watch TV programs, but downloaded from the Net, so we can see them without commercials every 10 minutes. Same with movies. I haven't been in a movie theater since 1991. I pay no attention to the names of the stars. I just have no interest in them, any more than I have interest in the names of members of sports teams. I enjoy 'watching' them (actors and athletes) but have no interest in 'knowing' them. They do their jobs, and the good ones do them well. So do accountants, dentists, and soldiers.
