Yes, even Apple has a "last supported version" or something.
Though the major android app stores don't current have have that feature, there are probably various ways to get the old apks in most cases.
But sadly, the people most likely to need them (non-enthusiasts, since enthusiasts would probably upgrade more often) are the least likely to know how to do that.
