I totally understand that people with multiple kindle devices/apps might want to sync.
I like reading different books on each device, and in almost 5 years of ereading have only switched devices twice to read the same book, but I am probably unusual in that. I have mysteries on one, fantasy on another, general and literary and non fiction on another etc. Sometimes I find a book doesn't suit my mood or is to intense for bedtime reading so I simply pick up another reader. No syncing required. It is like having a stack of books on my nightstand except the stack is smaller and neater, and I don't need bookmarks
I don't think the OP cares overmuch about syncing right now and that the main objective at present is to read his current epub files on the kindle.
Conversion to any format is probably the best option, although it might take a few hours for the first book or so. After that it will usually only take seconds. Well worth the effort if there are a lot of books involved. if there are few books then it might be better to just start acquiring kindle books if that is a convenient option where the OP lives.
