@eschwartz, @Terisa de morgan - I just googled for "windows environment variables editor" the Rapid one was the first of several, at least two more at source forge, and no doubt there are others elsewhere.

If you look hard enough you'll probably find one with a ribbon; Bowpad is a SciTe editor wrapped in a ribbon, it's almost as good as emacs
