All pre-fw5.6.x devices can be downgraded at will (5.4.5 requires mild trickery) and are under user control.

The KV and KT2 ship with 5.6.x (earliest fw for those devices) and there isn't really anything more Amazon can do to it (than they have already).

The PW2 is in a special situation, it originally shipped with 5.4.0 and can be jailbroken, unless you wait until it gets a 5.6.x update. Then it cannot be newly jailbroken (although a previous jailbreak will carry over).
No earlier devices are likely to get updated to 5.6.x, as they are already EOLed.

knc1 will correct me if I am wrong, but if you can get an exploit on the PW2 with latest firmware (careful, make sure you jailbreak first) then it should work on the KV and KT2 as well.

If you get the KV, feel free to be as negligent as you like, because you already have no access.
