I can speed read but it is not comfortable for me. Too much like work. With an ereader I read slower than with paper and much slower than on monitor or tablet.

I prefer my leisure reading on the ereader, but if I was comfortably reading faster on the ereader, I can't see this as a bad thing.

The purpose of reading faster for me is to enjoy more books. I would, and do, enjoy the books I read, or else why bother with leisure reading. But I fail to see how slow reading, without additional benefits such as more enjoyment or retention, is a virtue in and of itself.

It is kind of like saying people who do things slower or have less in the way of advantages such as material goods, education, living conditions etc. enjoy what they do have more than those considered more fortunate. Sometimes true I am sure, but I will opt for the advantages, such as indoor plumbing, myself.
