For me Windows 8 is a constant tug of war. It's so unstable and crashes all the time. I can leave it idle for like 5 minutes and it comes to a stand still and then I have to fight the next 5 minutes to close the programs and reboot. Windows 8 is a joke. There is so much running in the background you have no control over. I have to reboot like two to three times a day it's ridiculous.
I'm not sure you can add custom books to the Kindle app though. I haven't tried that. It may do PDocs (doesn't look like it does yet) but I'm not sure if has more than one font yet or supports publisher's font. I uninstalled it months ago.

The Kindle Android app is just as good as the Kindle Fire Reader though.
