I am not sure of the precise APPDATA location on OSX (although other unix-like OSes use "~/.config/" ), so go to Preferences ==> Miscellaneous in calibre and click Open configuration directory. That will get you to the calibre folder, then cleanup the "plugins" subdirectory.
Did this and cleaned up as you indicated. Here is what is happening now:

My iPad Air is being detected by iOS reader app and I see the Marvin XD and Marvin buttons when device is connected. However, now Calibre keeps going through a cycle of analyzing the books on my iPad.

Before this, once I connected to Calibre, hit Get Books on Marvin, Calibre would analyze the books on my iPad ONCE and that was it. From that point, I could sideload books like crazy. Then I would use disconnect the device and go about my business. This constant cycling through analyzing my device is NEW.

Any thoughts?

P.S. When I opened the config directory under Calibre to remove the plug ins, I removed the following:

1. The iOS reader folder
2. The iOS reader zip file
3. iOs reader applications.json
