Nameless Being

Mine just arrived. So this is very preliminary. But I did notice a few things straight away:
  • While it was starting up the first time and the dark image covers the lower half of the screen, I noticed a gillion pinholes. But they don't seem noticeable when reading text.
  • Also while it was starting up the first time I angled the Voyage and could see the reflection of six LEDs at the bottom. I could not see any at the top or sides.
  • As soon as the screen was on I could see the large oval shaped yellowish blob taking up the top third of the screen. The Voyage started at light setting 22 and so the blob was quite noticeable but not a deal killer yet. However I never read at level 22. I turned the light down to level 10 in my well lit study and the blob is barely noticeable.
  • For the third lit Kindle in a row the screen has a definite blue tint. Yuk! But not as noticeable at lower light levels. I can also see pink and yellow when the light level is too high for me to read, say around 22.
  • Text is definitely sharper and crisper and much easier to read. This is a major improvement over the PW2.

I just got it so I will check it out much more thoroughly over the next few days. Unfortunately I won't be able to spend much time with it until this evening, but so far it looks better than the PW2. I'm a bit upset with the yellow blob on $200 reader, but so far it looks like that won't effect my reading too much.

ETA: Wow it is small! I always loved the 5" Sony PRS-300 and PRS-350 readers I had years ago because they were so small. I think the Voyage is as small as them, if not a little bit smaller, and it has a 6" screen rather than the 5" screens they had.
