From the way that the feature has been explained, you should be fine with the page turn sensor unless your natural way to hold the device is with your thumb twitching all the time because it is change in pressure it reacts too and not just pressure.
You might need to adjust the sensitivity of it, but I'd be surprised if many people actually switched it off for technical rather than personal reasons.
