Think of a case like a seat belt. Some people just have to get used to using one. Use it often enough and you do get used to it like it or not when you first use such.

For the vast majority of people, I agree that a case is better. However, many people do not use public transport and may only read at home.
For a klutz like me, a case is absolutely necessary. I am able to drop electronics anywhere and anytime. 😊
