am i right in thinking that a uk comp code will not work in canada or hk or anywhere else for that matter?

I cant get a code to work on Murakami's latest as the uk is not allowing codes to be used on it. If i get a high code anyone want to trade a uk one for a Canadian one? #struggle

tried and failed to use one of my codes in Canada on said book.
