I use
Moon+ Reader Pro in preference to the Kindle Fire's reader. It has some nice features (such as swiping up the left side to increase brightness, and up the right side to increase font size) and is very configurable, so you can remove blank lines, stop it from automatically swapping between portrait and landscape mode when you lean the reader (one of my real bugbears with the Kindle reader, which keeps doing that when I'm reading in bed), etc. etc.
