Maybe so. From personal experience no Touch/PW1/PW2 can do that -- it calls
instead, which means it will only stay off for a few seconds.
Why anyone should care?

Given that most people do not routinely put their Kindle away for months on end, and if they do they need to rethink their e-ink device commitment altogether...
