Hi Lynx-lynx - I actually owe it all to you - without your msgs I probably would never even have considered kobo.
Eventually that may turn out to be a mixed blessing!
I ended up with 16 books today, not counting the freebies.

Yes, I meant to say that lots & lots of those Shire books are free.

Some other random finds:
--The Mangle Street Murders by Kasasian is 49 RS - Victorian mystery
--There are 4 Catherine Aird mysteries around 200RS ea, much cheaper than US
--Most of the Miss Read titles are around 300 RS, again, cheaper than US
--My Crazy Century, memoir by Czech writer Ivan Klima, is discountable to
194 RS - US price is $15
--Balancing Act by Joanna Trollope - 1.59
--Children of War, Martin Walker's newest Bruno, chief of police title, is on pre-order for 310 RS
