When I go to the "Manage My Prime Account" section my only option is to cancel the whole thing right now. I can't just stop it from renewing in May; it wants to kill the subscription immediately. I'm in the middle of a book I borrowed through Prime right now, but when I finish this weekend I think I'm just going to do the "cancel now" thing. Otherwise, I have to remember to do it on May 25th so I'm not "automagically" charged on the 26th.
If you click on End Membership, it should pop up another box with an option to stop the membership as of your renewal date. I had the same concern as you - I thought it was going to end my membership now, and I wanted to keep it until the end of my time.
