If you open up the grouping drawer so it just shows the top level groups and the press of one of the top level groups the program pops up the match dialog, and then does nothing. If you Have group by first letter turned on and then open up a group and then click on the group type and select matched or not matched, it will search for the group type with the name of the group type. For example, tapping on "Tags" and saying not matched will search for: Search "not tags:^Tags"
These are both fairly obscure, but I thought you might want to know.

You are right -- long press on an outermost item should be ignored. I will look at that before I make the next release.
