Well your version of Kindle seems to be acting buggy it seems I got books on my carousel and if I delete them more books from the Cloud start to show up. I'm pretty sure this didn't happen before the KitKat 4.4.2 update.

It looks like this version is doing it too. Only in smaller amounts. It seems to jumping like 50MB on every sync.
