you can try setting the value in .kobo/Kobo/Kobo eReader.conf. After doing this, the value stayed even when turning light on and off on my Glo (interestingly, I didn't see this bug on my first try of the 2.10 firmware, after doing a factory reset I'm now again on 2.10 with this bug):
