Agreed, wifi syncing drains it a good 5% points down every time.
I found a few good threads here in regards to battery draining and calibration. They've been pretty helpful.
My battery gauge said 95% then down to 65% in a couple hours

I pluggrf it in to sync a couple books and then it shows the "charged" status at 100%. Immediately after unplugging it, it's back down to 61%.... so the battery is still crazy, but not as bad as before.
