Good point. The PW1 has a light layer on top of a Pearl eInk screen. The PW2 has what I assume is a redesigned light layer on top of a Carta eInk screen. And there are several people reporting the PW2 uses warmer (yellowish) LEDs than were used in the PW1 (blueish). There are a lot of variables and differences that can be affecting the display of fonts, including firmware.
