I just got mine. I'll post more impressions and pictures later, but for now:
The screen: - I unfortunately have a few tiny pinholes on the screen where the light shines through - waiting to see if they bother me when reading, but I find this very disappointing.
- This time around, I see no smudges or artifacts glued between the layers.
- I cannot detect any color blotches in daylight, but I will confirm tonight. (I think this is really happening - wait, let me pinch myself!)
- The illumination of the actual screen is much more even, however, I have about an inch of the border in lower left hand corner that is much brighter than the rest - will have to see if it bothers me, as I read in complete darkness at night, with the Kindle close to my face. This is similar to some of the devices I got last year.
- The screen with the light off is whiter than on my PW1, but I got my PW1 when it first came out, and it is my understanding that later devices were a bit whiter.
- The contrast seems to be a tad better, but I could be imagining it.
The rest - The software is awesome, for the Vocabulary Builder if nothing else (I'm into languages, so this is like the holy grail of ereaders for me).
- Touch is more accurate (never noticed how it wasn't on my old PW until now!).
- Page turns are way faster, but I wonder what the speed difference would be if I didn't have 200+ books on the PW1.
I think you can tell by the tone of this entry that I am not as over the top happy as I thought I would be... That's because of the pinholes
