On a virtual machine with 4 cores, I can convert four 6-8 hour Format 4 book segments to high quality MP3 in less than 5 minutes with dbPowerAmp. They are converted in parallel, and the output quality is quite acceptable, IMHO. (This is WAY better than some earlier methods I've tried, all of which had pops and other issues. And were s l o w -- essentially real time. )
