See here in the U.S. it is use like in a what we call a cat call. Like say a pretty woman was walking down the street. The guy would use that word to let her know he think she is hot. At least this is what I have read about mamacita. It is use as slang and not in a personal way. I read to use it in personal way was an insult due to the nature of it being used in the context of say here where I live a guy would say to a woman walking down the street. "Hey Pretty mama where are you goin'?" Some Spanish speaking people here used Mamacita like that.
Now KA used Mamita in a personal way in RC7. Hector calls the heroine that like a nickname.
Like I said it can be kind of confusing if the author doesn't explain how she sees the use of that word.
