Shops like that are very annoying. The last time I was in a shop that has Kobo devices on display, they all had the flat batteries.

The firmware is a bit picky about the names of fonts. There is a bit of discussion about it. Start with
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=204363. That is mainly talking about sideloaded fonts, but from memory the same rules apply to embedded fonts.
