I look forward to the sale and make it a prime time to buy ebooks. (I am not an author, so I'm not putting any books I

I use this sale to buy books whose descriptions interest me but whose authors are unknown. This was how I was introduced to VydorScope's books originally and have been buying them since.
BUT I do have a complaint -- not about VydorScope or his books, but in general -- which is that too many authors are putting up the second or third book, not the first book, in a series as the steeply discounted book. In my case, I simply pass over these authors and books no matter how enticing the description. Why would I buy book 2 at a discount when I haven't yet read book 1?
I think authors need to think carefully about which books they discount during the sale and how much of a discount they give. If the book is usually $7.99, a 25% discount is insufficient for me to buy the book. I am looking for pricing at $1.99 or less because I am using the sale to "meet" new authors. If I like what I buy at the sale, I will return and buy additional books from the author at a higher price (but I personally will not go beyond $5.99, largely because I already have a TBR pile that is excessively large and so use that cutoff to limit how many more books I add to it).
Anyway, regardless of what you do, as a reader I encourage authors to use this opportunity to
- rework and improve the description of their book
- improve the tagging and make the tagging more comprehensive so the book is more likely to be found in a search
- gain new readers by making their book irresistible in every way possible, including appropriate pricing
