For Gutenberg books (and convenience), I'd recommend purchasing a DVD from silkpagoda.com that has over 10,000 books/stories, and a browser-based index. It costs about $10 and is well worth it! |
Seconded. It's a pity, though, that the filenames are a mess (they look more or less randomly generated, and they are all in a single directory... :-(), so getting around it *needs* that HTML index. But it's a good deal for 10 bucks. They have PDF, MOBI, LRF & LIT versions of it.
