That is an excellent point. I cannot start a factory reset while pushing the light button and the slider, so it must be a bad button. Since I've had the reader longer than 30 days, the store won't exchange it. I'll have to return the device to Kobo to get a replacement.

It might be a useful feature to be able to turn the light on via the software. If that was the case I wouldn't have to exchange it.
