Your kindle probably needs its firmware updated to support azw3. If you dont want to update its firmware (or you have an older kindle which has no firmware update), right click on the Kindle icon in calibre, select configure this device and remove azw3 from the list of formats to send to the device. calibre will then automatically convert the azw3 to mobi before sending it.
