Just a comment on this...
The Touch does not actually use the cover image from the ePub. It is actually using the first page from the ePub. For most books, this is just some html that displays the image. But, I have some downloaded stories that have a text based cover page the first page. And others that use a mix of text with an image. For these, this page is what the Touch.
