But if you PERFORMED those poems by reciting them on stage for pay, I believe you might be liable to pay performance fees....I'm actually not certain about that though....I know it would be true for music....there may be no agency that collects performance fees for poems.

I suspect that if someone with perfect memory were to recite a bestselling novel (particularly for pay) the lawyers would be all over them.

Personal use is one thing, performance, sharing, copying is a completely different thing.
