Conversely, this thread https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=179103 seems to say that 5.1.0 creates issues with installing the jailbreak and launcher. So which am I supposed to do first?
FW 5.1.0 is indeed a huge fuckup. Nevertheless, it's the newest version, it will be automatically installed by Amazon, etc. - so whether we like it or not, we are mostly focusing on that version, because that's what the average user is expected to have (at the moment).

Jailbreaking 5.1.0 is no problem, and all of the "important" hacks work on 5.1.0.
