I've personally read and enjoyed Aliette de Bodard's Aztec mysteries (starts with Servant of the Underworld). I'd bought Lavie Tidhar's The Bookman previously or might have picked it up this time (not read yet). Dead Harvest by Chris Holm also tends to get pretty good reviews, and I've got a friend who really enjoyed Embedded by Dan Abnett.
