Yep, that's what put the Kindle out of the running for me. It's not really to do with Amazon, though - it's politics between the publishers. It's clearly technically possible because it works with US libraries.

I did it with the basic one (the Wi-fi), although via the PC, not the Kobo wireless. Had no problems at all. I did have Adobe Digital Editions set up, though. That was rather a pain to set up with the Sony, but possibly might be less so with the Kobo. However, once it's done, it's done, and after that downloading's easy.
