If you are using it for a fairly straightforward reading of the Bible (where you don't jump around often or don't do too much cross-referencing) I would say any of the eink Kindles would be fine (I prefer the OSNOVA versions that are available for ease of navigation) just depending on your preference for hardware.
If you are doing more topical studies where you will be bouncing around, I would not recommend an eink Kindle. I have the K3/keyboard and it is only "ok" for reading the Bible, but I also have an Android phone and a WebOS tablet - both of which are much easier to use than the K3 for this type of Bible study - so I would recommend the Kindle Fire or other Android/iOS tablet. There are some really good Bible apps available on an Android and iOS systems that make navigation much easier than with an eink Kindle.

For use in Bible Studies where rapid verse location is critical, I'd recommend the Three Touch Location use Bibles on the Kindle Fire like Tecarta ($ 5.00 per Bible) and the And Bible at zero cost with many Bibles, Dictionaries and Commentaries plus Strong Numbers.
For personal Bible Study I'd recommend the Zondervan Study Bible with Tecarta Three Touch Locations. It has the NIV Study Notes included, maps, videos, pictures and easy entry of Margin Notes and Bookmarks. It costs $ 25.00.
The Kindle Keyboard and Touch does not have the ability to use Android Apps like the Kindle Fire. If one must use those devices, the Osnova Bibles are best.
