Granted, I haven’t been to the UK in many years, and England even longer. But I spent quite a bit of time in Scotland in the sixties, and every home I visited had a fireplace with a bag of coal sitting on the hearth. I’m sure things are quite different today, but my recollection of the UK is shades of gray. Which by the way, is not all bad.
