If I understand the request correctly, what FinancialWar wants is not a No-Sleep mode but rather a "Sleep, no-notification" one. Can't see why that would be damaging in any way to the battery performance, but I'm not sure any of those is feasible unless someone highly skilled hacks right at the core of the Android system.

That's just artifacting not burn in and it will happen regardless even if the screen is only on the page for a few seconds (a screen refresh should clear it but sometime it takes two). It's more noticeable with pictures and if anything it's another strike against the screensaver rather than for it.
I think basicly what he wants is just to be able to set the device down and pick it up later at the page he was at as that's how I personally imagined eink readers would work before I bought one.
But like I said the screensaver grew on me it I just think it should just be optional that's all.
