As does, I believe, every other version of the Mobi reader. Changes that you make to the metadata in the Mobi desktop reader are unique to that platform - the other versions all use the metadata in the original file.

Tompe's "mobi2mobi" tool can be used to easily view or edit the metadata in a Mobi book.
