Perhaps it wasn't made clear enough in this thread but you can buy from the Kobobooks online store with your Sony. With the T1 you can even shop in bed as someone already said. With Sony being epub means you can buy from any epub bookstore, even the Kobo.
I don't know your finances obviously. Only you would but for me, I'd go with the newer technology just because. I didn't see the big deal with not having the wifi when my 350 was my primary reader but now having the T1 and access to buy & borrow from my library - I love it!!
Scenario that may or may not have relevance for you. You're away on vacation and you get email notice that a book you've been on a waiting list for finally comes up. You don't have your computer and won't be back in time for the 3 days it's being held for you. You're stuck. You're not getting the book. You have to wait till you get home & get back on the tail end of the waiting list. With a T1, you run to a quick hotspot or use the hotel's wifi, sign into the library & voila! You've got the book you've been waiting for.
