Question Confused by Personal Documents Settings

From what I can see on freshly acquired Kindle Touch:
  • If something ends up in the online "library" (with "Personal Document Archiving" on), I can't delete it from the device - I need to delete it first from the web interface, then from the device.
  • If I'll disable this archiving, I'll be able to delete items sent to Kindle directly on the Kindle.
  • I'm unable to read my personal docs via cloud reader or desktop app.

If all of the above is true, then it looks to me like this "archiving" is only useful for people with >1 physical Kindle. Or am I missing something here?
