I think people are having a problem justifying paying as much (or close to as much) for the case as they are for the reader. If the new cases were also 42% of the cost of the reader, I don't think any one would complain (as much).
Personally, I don't think the cost of the cover should be determined by the cost of the reader, because, the cover is still doing what it has always done. Now, if the materials being used in the covers for the new Kindles are of a lesser quality then the K3 covers, then by all means I think it should have a lower price.
